Biography

Serena joins the Ford Dorsey Master’s in International Policy from Ulu Ventures, a leading seed-stage venture firm in Silicon Valley with best-in-class decision analytics and a proactive approach to diversity. At Ulu, her investment focus included software, IT, and sustainability. Some of her favorite investments include Banyan Infrastructure, a software platform helping to deploy capital into sustainable infrastructure; SuperCircle, a company working with fashion brands to tackle textile waste; and Hey Jane, an online abortion clinic providing essential care to all. Prior to her time at Ulu, Serena was a growth-focused product manager at IBM on the Data and Artificial Intelligence portfolio and co-created the IBM Venture scout program as one of the first three Venture Associates. Serena received a B.A. in Environmental Science and Policy from Duke University.

At Stanford, Serena hopes to explore policy effects on entrepreneurship and sustainability innovation and adoption, particularly in emerging markets. Following her time at Stanford, she will be pursuing her MBA at Harvard Business School, as a member of the 2+2 program.
