CDDRL Welcomes New Visiting Scholars for the 2025-26 Academic Year
We are delighted to welcome Oliver Kaplan, Sanjeev Khagram, and Denis Morozov to our scholarly community.
The Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL) is delighted to welcome three distinguished visiting scholars who will join the Center's scholarly community for the 2025-26 academic year: Oliver Kaplan, Sanjeev Khagram, and Denis Morozov.
Oliver Kaplan is Associate Professor at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver and the author of Resisting War: How Communities Protect Themselves (Cambridge University Press, 2017). His research has explored how civilian communities organize to protect themselves during wartime and investigated the conflict-related impacts of land reform, as well as the reintegration and recidivism of ex-combatants. Kaplan’s work, which has included field research in Colombia and the Philippines, has appeared widely in both academic and policy outlets. A Stanford Ph.D. alumnus, he also directs the University of Denver's Korbel Asylum Project.
Dr. Sanjeev Khagram is a globally recognized scholar and leader whose work bridges academia, business, government, and civil society. He previously served as CEO, Director-General, and Dean of the Thunderbird School of Global Management and has held faculty appointments at Harvard, the University of Washington, and Occidental College. At Stanford, he is a distinguished visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution in its Emerging Markets Working Group, where he leads the Global Resilience Index Platform and Partnership (GRIPP), and a visiting scholar at the Center for Sustainable Development and Global Competitiveness, where he leads the AI and Sustainability Initiative. His scholarship addresses global governance, inequality, and development.
Denis Morozov is an experienced leader in international finance and corporate governance. He previously served as President of Bank of America for Russia and the CIS, Executive Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and CEO of global companies Norilsk Nickel and Uralkali. His research focuses on the role and position of multilateral development banks in the evolving global financial system, as well as their impact on international development. Morozov holds degrees from Moscow State University, Columbia University, and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
Together, Kaplan, Khagram, and Morozov bring a wealth of expertise spanning conflict studies, global governance, sustainable development, and international finance. We look forward to the insights and contributions they will share with the CDDRL community throughout the year.
